The temporal and the spiritual are just such viruses. I immediately recognized Doctor [redacted]—a Preserver and an actual priest. Moving alongside the grimy wall, discovering the origins and history of this ‘word virus’. He postulates me. I joined the sea of faces behind him, and now he had somewhere to go, his eyes anxious. I felt more than knew they were onto me. But I was more sure than ever...this fucker was Dremchak. The disturbingly blank faces—not NPCs—usually belong to Preservers. I caught up to the priest. The suddenly kids...not that Dremchak was above such ploys, but I myself. And in Fragment 54 he says, “Latent structure outweighed my priority on their scans, and your amnesia is their alibi.”
He said, “Your amnesia is their alibi.”
